Position Summary

Working closely with the Group Head of Finance, the Finance Manager will will be responsible for the day to day transactional accounting and ultimately provide ongoing assistance to the Blackbet Betty Holdings (BBH). The Finance Manager will also have overall responsibility for Group reporting, including monthly management accounts and required statutory and other returns, providing insightful performance analysis and variance commentaries. The Group is active across Africa in Nigeria, Tanzania, Malawi, Ghana, Zambia, Mozambique, and Kenya with further country expansion planned

Duties & Responsibility

  • Transactional accounting for the BBH, including working closely with our Centralised East Africa management team to ensure accurate financial records are kept
  • Prepares closing financial statements & management accounts and supporting schedules according to month-end close schedule
  • Cash forecasting for the Blackbet Group and working with the Betty finance team to ensure accurate cashflow forecasting for the BBH Group
  • Working with the head of finance to prepare & ensure accurate budgeting and updating reforecasts
  • Ensures full variance analysis compiled to outline any deviation from budget and working with the operational teams to ensure targets are met
  • Assist with all internal and external Audit processes and be the primary point of contact for the audit team for both group reporting and statutory accounts, including complexities of a large group with multiple systems and office locations
  • Management of the intercompany processes within both the Blackbet and BBH Groups
  • Improving on controls, ensuring a best in class finance function
  • Ensure AP/AR, including cash/bank recs, Balance Sheets are reviewed and properly reconciled on a regular basis and that all variances are reviewed and resolved on a timely basis
  • Preparation of statutory returns as required by regulatory bodies
  • Assist with tax reporting requirements and liaise with the tax advisors for the preparation all tax returns, including WHT & VAT
  • Assist with foreign exchange exposure with a focus on securing the best FX rates
  • Assist in managing relationships with banks with a focus on minimising bank/finance costs
  • Other AD-Hoc tasks as required

REQUIREMENTS

  • ICAN Qualified (or equivalent)
  • Extensive experience managing audits
  • Financial process reviews/audits experience and the ability to identify and suggest areas for improvement
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proven self-starter and independent problem-solving ability with sense to
  • understand implications of work and probe more deeply when presented with inconsistent or interesting findings
  • Proven ability to manage and meet all deadlines
  • Ability to cope in a busy and demanding work environment with regular and conflicting deadlines
  • High standards of accuracy and precision; highly numerate and organized
  • Good working knowledge of IFRS as well as the ability to understand and interpret accounting treatments for new transactions or policy changes
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot, vlookup, sumif, if) and Power Point skills
